An Albanian Passport Portrait Captured During Identity Enrolment

For a passport issued by Albania, the photograph is part of biometric enrolment. The U.S. Department of State’s official document information for Albania describes IdentiTek checking the applicant’s identity against the civil registry and police record, then collecting the photograph and fingerprints. That sequence places the portrait alongside the evidence establishing who the passport belongs to.

Preparing for this service involves the appointment and your identity documents, as well as the picture. A first application and a renewal should be checked against their respective instructions. Albania’s Ministry of Interior announced in 2026 that passport and ID renewals can be handled at any IdentiTek application office nationwide, regardless of the civil-registration unit. The first-application route should not be assumed to have the same arrangements.

A recognizable likeness helps the passport perform its identifying role at the border. Our biometrics guide explains the connection between the image and document record; facial expression, framing and photo quality guidance help with preparation for capture. Consult the photo requirements for the photographic detail and follow the enrolment operator’s directions.

For an application abroad, find the relevant Albanian representation through the embassy and consulate directory and confirm its available passport service. Before travelling, use the visa finder to research the destination separately. A valid Albanian passport and a suitable photograph are distinct from any additional permission your destination may require.
