Official Cypriot residence permit photo requirements for 2026. Size, background and rules. Create a compliant photo online.
Image Created with AI for IllustrationA residence document in Cyprus uses a facial image to connect the immigration record to its holder. The Migration Department explains that biometric collection includes the photograph and fingerprints, with a signature also recorded. This identification stage supports the document issued after assessment of the relevant residence application.
The department expressly allows applicants to provide their own photograph when it meets biometric specifications. Its guidance stresses accurate reproduction of real facial features and sufficient image quality. A supplied portrait therefore needs to be prepared for document use, rather than selected simply because it is a recent personal picture.
A recognizable likeness, natural facial expression and clear framing are useful starting points. Review the photo quality guide and the official photo requirements before preparing prints; preserve the original digital photograph so facial detail is not lost through repeated compression. The biometrics explanation provides background on why these features matter.
The residence category determines the supporting papers and receiving office. Keep the passport and other requested identity documents with the application receipt for the biometric stage. If arranging entry from abroad, the visa finder and embassy and consulate directory help identify relevant consular information. Entry permission and the residence document are related stages, but their photograph and submission requests should be followed separately.
Photo dimensions must be precise to avoid rejection. The face-to-frame ratio is equally important for proper identification.
Use a plain, distraction-free background. We replace it automatically to meet official criteria.
Proper lighting ensures your photo is clear and natural. Uneven exposure or artificial glare can lead to rejection.
Your face must be fully visible with a neutral expression for easy identification and facial recognition.
Glasses are allowed only if they do not obstruct visibility. Headwear is permitted only for valid medical or religious reasons.
Improper posture can lead to application rejection. Your face and shoulders should be correctly aligned and fully visible.
