Official Emirati residence permit photo requirements for 2026. Size, background and rules. Create a compliant photo online.
Image Created with AI for IllustrationFor family residence in the United Arab Emirates, the photograph belongs to the person being sponsored, not to the sponsor submitting the application. Dubai’s GDRFA family-residence service requests a recent colour portrait on a white background together with the applicant’s passport copy. This distinction is useful when one family member prepares several applications through the same account or service centre.
Keep each person’s digital photograph clearly associated with their own identity documents. Use a current recognisable likeness, careful framing and a natural facial expression; do not crop a child or adult from a family group picture if it leaves an unsuitable pose or distracting details. The white background should remain even, with sufficient image resolution and consistent photo quality in the uploaded file.
The published Dubai service offers digital submission and assistance through customer service or Amer centres. Its supporting requirements also include medical examination evidence for applicants over eighteen. Other residence categories and other processing authorities have their own checklists, so use the route matching the actual application. The photo preparation guide explain practical portrait preparation, and the detailed photo requirements below help with the image itself. Before submission, review the sponsored person’s passport details and selected photograph together. This simple comparison helps avoid attaching the right-looking portrait to the wrong family member’s residence record.
Photo dimensions must be precise to avoid rejection. The face-to-frame ratio is equally important for proper identification.
Use a plain, distraction-free background. We replace it automatically to meet official criteria.
Proper lighting ensures your photo is clear and natural. Uneven exposure or artificial glare can lead to rejection.
Your face must be fully visible with a neutral expression for easy identification and facial recognition.
Glasses are allowed only if they do not obstruct visibility. Headwear is permitted only for valid medical or religious reasons.
Improper posture can lead to application rejection. Your face and shoulders should be correctly aligned and fully visible.
