Preparing an Identity Portrait for Kiribati’s Registration Service

National identity registration in Kiribati is associated with the Ministry of Justice, whose official recruitment material identifies a National Identity Registration Officer role. Government service forms also refer to the national ID among accepted identity records. Before preparing a photograph, confirm the current registration service and the type of application with the Ministry rather than relying on older descriptions of the country’s identity system.

The public material establishes the registration function but does not provide a complete current photo-submission checklist. Ask whether the office captures the image or requires supplied prints, and which supporting identity documents are needed. A passport photograph should not automatically be treated as the correct national-card submission merely because both documents identify their holders.

For preparation, select a current recognisable likeness and review the portrait for photo quality, suitable framing and a clear facial expression. The detailed specifications below help assess an image once the office has confirmed its required format. Our photo preparation instructions are useful for preparing the photograph without assuming a particular local capture method.

Keep the registration details consistent with the civil records presented to establish identity. If the request concerns a replacement or a change of particulars, explain that when obtaining the checklist. The photo connects the applicant to the record, while the Ministry’s registration procedure determines how that record is verified and issued.
