A Supplied Residence Portrait Alongside Mongolia’s Biometric Registration

Mongolia’s immigration guidance for the H1-1 residence category asks for a photograph and also requires a first-time residence applicant to attend for biometric registration, including fingerprints and photos. The supplied image and the official registration are therefore separate parts of the process. Sending a picture with the file does not necessarily remove the need for personal attendance.

The H1-1 checklist connects the applicant with the main H1 holder through relationship evidence and includes local address documentation. This illustrates why the residence category matters: the photograph identifies the person, while the other documents explain the family connection and basis for staying.

Use a current portrait with a recognisable likeness, reviewing photo quality, framing, background and facial expression against the detailed guidance below. Keep the image separate from copies of the passport and other identity documents. Follow the required digital delivery format, and consult our biometrics explanation before the registration appointment. For another residence category in Mongolia, use its own checklist rather than borrowing the H1-1 supporting-document list. Preserve the original photograph during processing so it remains available for corrections. The image supports recognition of the applicant throughout the residence record; it cannot replace the invitation, relationship or address evidence required for the selected status.
