The Portrait Accompanying Morocco’s Biometric Passport Request

Morocco’s official passport checklist for applications made in the country asks for one recent identity photograph with the signed form and a copy of the valid electronic national identity card. The photo identifies the applicant now, while the CNIE connects the request with the established identity record. A biometric passport application therefore combines a new image with existing official evidence.

The checklist distinguishes renewal from loss or theft. An old passport or the appropriate explanation of its whereabouts belongs with the renewal file, and loss documentation depends on where the incident occurred. Those administrative differences do not change the need for a photograph of the actual applicant.

Prepare a current portrait with a recognisable likeness, reviewing photo quality, framing, background and facial expression. Keep the required prints with the supporting identity documents and application receipt. The detailed specifications below explain the visual checks. Our biometrics guide helps place the photograph within the identification process. For an application outside Morocco, use our embassy and consulate directory to locate the relevant Moroccan mission and its own submission instructions; the domestic checklist is not a substitute for every consular arrangement. Once the booklet is organised, our visa finder helps explore destination conditions separately from issuance of the passport.
