Official Namibian passport photo requirements for 2026. Size, background and rules. Create a compliant photo online.
Image Created with AI for IllustrationNamibia’s Home Affairs guidance asks for a passport-size colour photograph with a clear background when applying through regional offices or diplomatic missions, and in the stated cases involving children under sixteen. The portrait accompanies the passport application and the records establishing the applicant’s identity and citizenship.
The ministry’s checklist includes birth and identity documents, with citizenship evidence where relevant. Certified copies and the application’s certification requirements are part of the file. Prepare those materials alongside the photograph so that the portrait can be connected to a verified personal record rather than submitted in isolation.
Use the photo requirements below with our framing, background, facial expression and photo quality guidance to review a recognisable likeness. A supplied image should retain clear facial detail and be protected from damage. For a consular application, follow that mission’s photo quantity and presentation instructions as well as the general ministry guidance.
Our Namibia page connects other Namibian identity documents. The embassy and consulate directory helps locate the relevant overseas representation, and the visa finder supports destination research once the passport request is organised. Namibia also provides an online passport service through Home Affairs, so choose the appropriate submission route and retain its instructions for any remaining document or collection stage.
Photo dimensions must be precise to avoid rejection. The face-to-frame ratio is equally important for proper identification.
Use a plain, distraction-free background. We replace it automatically to meet official criteria.
Proper lighting ensures your photo is clear and natural. Uneven exposure or artificial glare can lead to rejection.
Your face must be fully visible with a neutral expression for easy identification and facial recognition.
Glasses are allowed only if they do not obstruct visibility. Headwear is permitted only for valid medical or religious reasons.
Improper posture can lead to application rejection. Your face and shoulders should be correctly aligned and fully visible.
