Nepali Driver's License Photo

The Identity-Photo Stage of Nepal’s Driving-Licence Application

Nepal’s Department of Transport Management directs applicants to the relevant provincial portal for driving-licence applications and renewal. Its online-licence guidance also describes office verification and biometric collection for new licences and category additions. The portrait belongs to that identification stage, connecting the driving application with the person attending.

A category addition is different from starting a first licence, even though both involve checking the applicant’s identity. Existing licence information, appointment details and the requested vehicle category should therefore be organised before the visit. A clear image supports the record but does not replace the examination or other conditions associated with the entitlement.

Prepare for a current portrait with a recognisable likeness. Review photo quality, framing, background and facial expression so the facial image is straightforward to record and recognise. Our biometrics guide explains the purpose of the capture stage, and the detailed photo specifications below help with visual preparation. Keep the relevant identity documents and application confirmation together. If the selected office requests additional prints, follow that instruction for the particular service rather than assuming every provincial application uses the same paper-photo arrangement. In Nepal, starting with the correct provincial route helps ensure the image and supporting records reach the office responsible for the licence being sought, whether it is a new entitlement or an addition to an existing one.
