Official Nigerien driver's license photo requirements for 2026. Size, background and rules. Create a compliant photo online.
Image Created with AI for IllustrationNiger’s biometric driving licence replaced the former red cardboard document through a national reform launched in 2019. The photograph now belongs to a record linking the driver’s identity with the categories they are entitled to drive. Preparing that identifying image is one part of obtaining or updating the licence, alongside the relevant driving formalities.
The national news agency’s report from the Niamey production centre describes verification of the earlier licence, registration of personal and biometric information, and subsequent collection. That report explains the changeover process; its historical deadlines and fees should not be used as a current appointment checklist. First-time applicants should obtain the present examination and enrolment instructions from the transport service.
Review the photo requirements below before preparing a portrait, with the framing, facial expression, background and photo quality explanations for practical checks. Keep your likeness natural and bring the requested identity documents. Confirm whether the office needs supplied prints, a digital photograph or an image recorded during enrolment, rather than assuming the passport submission format also applies to a driving licence.
The Niger page links related Nigerien documents. If preparing to drive abroad, the embassy and consulate directory can help locate the relevant representation, while the visa finder supports travel-entry research. Recognition of the licence and any additional international driving document require their own destination checks.
Photo dimensions must be precise to avoid rejection. The face-to-frame ratio is equally important for proper identification.
Use a plain, distraction-free background. We replace it automatically to meet official criteria.
Proper lighting ensures your photo is clear and natural. Uneven exposure or artificial glare can lead to rejection.
Your face must be fully visible with a neutral expression for easy identification and facial recognition.
Glasses are allowed only if they do not obstruct visibility. Headwear is permitted only for valid medical or religious reasons.
Improper posture can lead to application rejection. Your face and shoulders should be correctly aligned and fully visible.
