Official North Macedonian visa photo requirements for 2026. Size, background and rules. Create a compliant photo online.
Image Created with AI for IllustrationThe visa photograph for North Macedonia accompanies an application for entry, transit or an intended stay. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs distinguishes airport transit, short-stay and long-stay categories. Start with the category and the representation handling your case, because a photograph is only one part of the evidence supporting the purpose of travel.
The published application procedure asks for one 35 by 45 mm photograph alongside the travel document and supporting material. The short-stay guidance specifies colour, a white background and a clearly visible face. The detailed photo requirements below help you check that portrait without overlooking the rest of the application.
Applications are normally submitted in person to the competent diplomatic or consular representation, with arrangements for exceptions and minors described by the Ministry. Use our embassy and consulate directory to identify the relevant office and the visa finder to explore the travel category. Confirm the appointment instructions before preparing the final prints or sending any files.
A clear recognisable likeness and consistent photo quality help connect the application to the person named in the passport. Keep the portrait separate from copies of identity documents and from evidence such as insurance or an invitation. Review the chosen image once more before submission, particularly if someone else is assembling the application on your behalf.
Photo dimensions must be precise to avoid rejection. The face-to-frame ratio is equally important for proper identification.
Use a plain, distraction-free background. We replace it automatically to meet official criteria.
Proper lighting ensures your photo is clear and natural. Uneven exposure or artificial glare can lead to rejection.
Your face must be fully visible with a neutral expression for easy identification and facial recognition.
Glasses are allowed only if they do not obstruct visibility. Headwear is permitted only for valid medical or religious reasons.
Improper posture can lead to application rejection. Your face and shoulders should be correctly aligned and fully visible.
