Official Omani passport photo requirements for 2026. Size, background and rules. Create a compliant photo online.
Image Created with AI for IllustrationThe Royal Oman Police passport service links an application to the applicant’s civil identity in Oman. Its electronic process uses authenticated access and checks the information supplied for a new passport or renewal. For the holder, the portrait is the visible connection between that record and the person travelling. Preparing it should therefore go together with checking the names and details on the existing ID card and passport.
An online request does not describe every step involved in issuance. The ROP guidance also sets out attendance requirements at a service centre, including official Omani dress for the categories it specifies. Children’s applications involve a guardian and different supporting arrangements. Check the instructions for your age and application type before deciding whether to prepare prints, an upload or simply attend for the required capture. The public service page should not be read as a universal digital-photo upload specification.
For the portrait itself, keep a current recognisable likeness at the centre of the preparation. The photo requirements below explain the photographic details, while our guides to facial expression, framing and photo quality help you interpret them. Keep the relevant identity documents together with the electronic application reference so the service centre can connect the visit to the request. If you are outside Oman, use the embassy and consulate directory to find the responsible mission and confirm the appropriate overseas service.
Photo dimensions must be precise to avoid rejection. The face-to-frame ratio is equally important for proper identification.
Use a plain, distraction-free background. We replace it automatically to meet official criteria.
Proper lighting ensures your photo is clear and natural. Uneven exposure or artificial glare can lead to rejection.
Your face must be fully visible with a neutral expression for easy identification and facial recognition.
Glasses are allowed only if they do not obstruct visibility. Headwear is permitted only for valid medical or religious reasons.
Improper posture can lead to application rejection. Your face and shoulders should be correctly aligned and fully visible.
