Polish Driver's License Photo

Preparing a Polish Driving-Licence Image in Print or Digital Form

Poland publishes a dedicated driving-licence photograph guide, including visual standards and technical instructions for an image file. This is useful because the portrait forms part of the licensing application, whether the transaction concerns a first entitlement, an exchange or a replacement. For a licence issued in Poland, check the selected service before preparing the portrait; the application route determines how the image accompanies the rest of the file.

The Ministry of Infrastructure’s guidance describes a recent colour image with natural contrast and clearly visible facial detail. It also specifies file characteristics for a digital photograph, including metadata and compression requirements. Those technical conditions are distinct from the dimensions of prints. Keep the original image and use the actual official file instructions when exporting, rather than assuming that any small JPEG is suitable.

For the visual preparation, prioritise a current recognisable likeness, suitable framing, a consistent background and a natural facial expression. The photo requirements below give the detailed specification, while our photo quality and image resolution guides help explain the terms. Gather the requested identity documents and licensing evidence alongside the portrait. If exchanging a foreign licence, follow that service’s documentary checklist rather than the first-driver process. Once the office has accepted the application, check the completed licence’s personal details and vehicle categories as well as the photograph before relying on the new card.
