Preparing for Identification During a Portuguese Residence Request

A residence document issued in Portugal connects the holder’s identity with permission to live there under the applicable residence category. The portrait is part of that identification record, while the application also establishes the basis for residence. Under the general residence framework, AIMA lists a valid passport or other travel document, a valid residence visa and evidence concerning means of support and accommodation, subject to the applicable route. Keep those identity documents and supporting papers organised around the appointment. A visa photograph supplied earlier does not by itself establish that the residence-document image requirement has been completed.
