The Photograph Captured During Saint Lucia’s National-ID Registration

The Electoral Department in Saint Lucia describes a national-ID process that includes electronic portrait capture at the registration booth. After the supporting documents are checked, the registration clerk enters the applicant’s details and captures the photograph, signature and biometric information. Your portrait is therefore linked directly with the record being created or updated, rather than being an unrelated picture submitted on its own.

The first service-desk stage checks details against the department’s database and provides the checklist applicable to the customer. This is useful when replacing an existing card or resolving a record issue: the required paperwork may depend on what the department already holds. Bring the requested identity documents and civil evidence so the clerk can establish the details before the image is collected. A portrait that looks suitable cannot resolve a mismatch in a name or date of birth by itself.

Prepare for a clear recognisable likeness, an unobstructed face and a natural facial expression.
