Official Timorese residence permit photo requirements for 2026. Size, background and rules. Create a compliant photo online.
Image Created with AI for IllustrationA residence application in East Timor records both the foreign national’s identity and the basis for living in the country. The Migration and Asylum Law distinguishes residence permits from the visa stage. Its residence-application provision specifically includes a colour passport-style photograph against a plain background.
The photo accompanies a completed application and certified passport and immigration-document copies, along with evidence explaining the stay. Accommodation and means of support are among the matters addressed in that file. A current portrait gives the authority a visible link between those identity documents and the person seeking residence.
For preparation, keep the face naturally recognizable and retain detail when resizing the image. The photo quality, framing and facial expression guides explain practical choices without turning the general legal photo requirement into an invented print size. Obtain the receiving immigration office’s instructions for the number of prints or the delivery of a digital photograph before producing the final submission.
Renewal and first grant involve different circumstances, so identify the service using your existing immigration status. The visa finder can assist with preliminary entry research, but a residence permit concerns the continuing stay. Keep a copy of the submitted image with your application records, making it easier to supply a consistent replacement if the authority requests a clearer or differently formatted photograph.
Photo dimensions must be precise to avoid rejection. The face-to-frame ratio is equally important for proper identification.
Use a plain, distraction-free background. We replace it automatically to meet official criteria.
Proper lighting ensures your photo is clear and natural. Uneven exposure or artificial glare can lead to rejection.
Your face must be fully visible with a neutral expression for easy identification and facial recognition.
Glasses are allowed only if they do not obstruct visibility. Headwear is permitted only for valid medical or religious reasons.
Improper posture can lead to application rejection. Your face and shoulders should be correctly aligned and fully visible.
