Preparing the Portrait for Tunisia’s National Identity Record

The national identity card of Tunisia connects a citizen’s photograph with their civil-status information. For Tunisians abroad, e-Consulat publishes separate lists for first issue, renewal and replacement after loss. These are not identical packages: the overseas checklist asks for four photographs for first issue and two for renewal or replacement, alongside the documents appropriate to each situation.

The consular guidance specifies a frontal image without glasses on a white background. Use a recent recognisable likeness and balanced framing so the face remains easy to compare with the person presenting the card. Prepare matching prints from the selected digital photograph; mixing a new portrait with older copies can make an otherwise straightforward file inconsistent. A natural facial expression and good photo quality are more useful than cosmetic retouching.

The identity documentation includes a recent Arabic birth extract, and the first application also requires nationality evidence. Residents abroad provide their residence and consular registration records. Bring those identity documents together with the photographs, checking the service category before ordering copies. Domestic applicants should obtain the local police or National Guard checklist, rather than assuming that the overseas copy count applies to their counter service.
