Preparing for Uzbekistan’s Travel-Passport Portrait

Uzbekistan distinguishes its biometric passport for travel abroad from the identity card used domestically. The travel document connects a citizen’s personal details with a facial image and other recorded biometrics. An application can begin through the government’s online services portal, but the published process also includes a personal visit to a data collection point for the photograph and fingerprints. Preparing your appearance and arranging the correct appointment therefore belong to the same passport task.

The portrait should let officials recognise you readily throughout the booklet’s use. Before attending, review the photo preparation guide for a straightforward facial expression, visible facial features and appropriate framing. Good photo quality starts with an unobstructed view of the face; a flattering pose or heavy cosmetic changes can make identification less reliable. Follow the collection point’s directions for the final image and background, rather than treating a photograph already embedded in another document as a new portrait.

The portal’s procedure asks applicants to attend the competent authority with a passport or equivalent identification at the appointed time. Keep your supporting identity documents consistent with the application details, especially after a name change. The detailed photo requirements provide further preparation guidance. If applying outside Uzbekistan, use the embassy and consulate directory to establish the consular route, since an overseas appointment is organised separately from a domestic portal application.
