The Endorsed Photograph in Zambia’s Adult Passport Application

Zambia’s passport Form A asks for two recent photographs, with one endorsed on the reverse by the application’s recommender. The recommender must have known the applicant personally for at least two years and cannot be a family member. The picture is therefore part of an identity-verification step, rather than simply an attachment added after the rest of the file is complete.

The form distinguishes applicants aged sixteen and over from younger children, who use Form B. It also links the passport request with National Registration Card, birth and previous-passport evidence as applicable. Organising the portrait early gives the recommender the actual image that will accompany the application and avoids endorsing a different version.
