- Passport photo generation via API
- Manage your own API keys
- No credits used for technical failures
Send a portrait and a supported country code to create a passport photo. Rostrio processes the photo using the selected country preset and returns the resulting image. An unsuitable photo can be rejected after processing; automated checks do not guarantee acceptance by a document authority.
Choose a prepaid credit package in your API partner portal. One credit is used for one processed photo, including a photo rejected after processing. Invalid uploads rejected before processing and technical failures do not use credits. A credit is reserved before each processing request, so simultaneous requests cannot exceed the available balance. Technical failures release the reserved credit. Interrupted reservations are released automatically after 30 minutes. There is no automatic monthly charge.

Enter your business name and email above. Open the secure email link to your partner portal and buy credits with your credit card through Stripe. Your first confirmed card payment verifies your card and activates API access. You can then create and revoke personal API keys. API customers see only API credits, usage, keys and payment receipts in the partner portal.
Use a personal API key in the X-API-Key header. The API accepts one multipart image, a supported country code and an optional age category (1 for under six, 2 for six or older; omit it for automatic detection).
curl --fail --request POST 'https://rostrio.com/api/photo/check' \
--header 'X-API-Key: YOUR_ROSTRIO_API_KEY' \
--form 'image=@portrait.jpg' \
--form 'country=NL' \
--output passport-photo.jpg
The /api/photo/check endpoint creates the passport photo. A successful request returns an image with HTTP 200 and dimensions in X-Width and X-Height (millimetres). HTTP 422 means the photo was processed and rejected; one credit is used. Invalid input with HTTP 400 and technical errors with HTTP 5xx do not consume a credit. HTTP 402 means that API access requires a confirmed card payment or more prepaid credits. Do not treat HTTP 422 or a JSON error body as a generated passport photo.
