Belizean Driver's License Photo

Belize City’s Driving-Licence Portrait is Captured at the Traffic Department

Where you apply matters when preparing a driving-licence photograph in Belize. Belize City Council describes a computerized city licence for which the traffic department takes the applicant’s picture digitally. Its guidance contrasts that process with district town licences that use submitted passport-size pictures. Confirm the issuing office before ordering a photo set for your own transaction.

The city card combines the holder’s portrait with identifying details, signature and vehicle class. It is among the identity documents used while driving, and the council says to carry it when applying for renewal. A recognizable likeness makes the photograph useful alongside those printed details; it is not a substitute for passing the applicable driving tests.

For a first city licence, the council places the photograph after successful testing and payment in its described process. Prepare for the camera by reviewing facial expression and keeping the face clearly visible. Our photo quality guide explains what makes a usable image, while the office controls the background and capture equipment for its own card.

If another licensing department asks you to bring prints, obtain that department’s current photo requirements rather than assuming Belize City’s capture arrangement applies everywhere. Similarly, do not send a digital photograph merely because the final city card is computerized. The practical first step is to identify the office and whether the visit concerns a learner, first licence, renewal or replacement, then prepare the photograph in the way that particular service requests.
