Digital Camera Capture for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Identity Card

The identity-card photograph in Bosnia & Herzegovina is acquired by the competent authority as part of the biometric application record. The rulebook published by IDDEEA describes a digital camera for the photograph, alongside fingerprint and signature acquisition. Preparing for the appointment means being ready for that coordinated capture process and bringing the identity evidence requested for the card.

The camera should record a frontal portrait with natural skin tones and a plain, light-coloured background. The rules emphasize clearly visible eyes and an unobstructed view of the face. Our photo quality and framing guides explain why these features matter for a recognizable likeness that can be compared with the holder later.

The rulebook also allows facilitated application and biometrics through a mobile workstation for older people, people who are ill and people with disabilities. If ordinary attendance is difficult, ask the issuing authority how that provision is arranged for the particular case. It concerns the way the data are collected rather than a different standard of identity.

Keep your supporting identity documents and the card application details together when arranging the visit. Review the photo requirements and facial expression beforehand, and ask the officer about any accommodation needed during capture. A digital photograph obtained for another service should not be assumed to replace the authority’s own camera step. Confirm the process for a first card, renewal or replacement so the photograph is recorded against the correct application and the intended identity record.
