Preparing for the Portrait in Cameroon’s Biometric Passport

A passport application for Cameroon connects an online file with an appointment where the holder’s identity is checked. The Washington embassy’s January 2025 instructions describe the photograph, fingerprints and height being recorded in person. Children also attend. Your passport portrait therefore belongs to the enrollment visit, alongside the supporting identity documents that establish the application.

This helps explain why completing the online form is only part of preparation. Keep the appointment confirmation and required papers together, and allow time for each family member to be photographed. For a young child, planning around their normal rest and feeding routine can make the brief camera session easier without changing the official process.

Our facial expression, framing and photo quality guides explain what makes a clear identification image. Practice looking directly at a camera with a relaxed face, and arrange hair so your features remain visible. The officer handles the capture setup; any separate prints requested for supporting paperwork should follow that paperwork’s own instructions.

Applicants outside Cameroon can use the embassy and consulate directory to identify the responsible representation and verify its appointment arrangements. Once the passport is ready, destination entry permission remains a separate question: the visa finder can help with that research. Keep the distinction clear if another authority asks for a digital photograph for a visa, because that request does not change how the Cameroonian passport portrait is enrolled.
