Colombian Diplomatic Passport Photo

Photo Preparation for a Colombian Diplomatic Assignment

A Colombian diplomatic passport is a separate document category administered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Cancillería describes it as an electronic passport issued to officials appointed by the national government to perform diplomatic functions. Before preparing a photograph, confirm that your application belongs to this category and obtain the instructions supplied for your official appointment or assignment.

The ordinary Colombian passport application should not be treated as the complete checklist for a diplomatic passport. The diplomatic and official passport framework includes evidence of entitlement, such as the relevant appointment and identity documents. The office handling the application determines which supporting records apply to the person requesting the document.

For the photograph, use the capture or submission instructions given by that office. If a digital portrait is requested, keep a clear original and prepare the file to the stated specifications rather than copying an unrelated visa upload limit. Our guidance on facial expression and photo quality helps with the visual preparation, while Cancillería remains the source for the actual document requirements.

Keep the photograph and the administrative supporting documents organised separately. That makes it easier to supply a corrected image if requested without confusing it with proof of the official assignment. Where family eligibility or a consular application is involved, obtain the instructions for that particular case before relying on a general passport checklist.
