Official Danish visa photo requirements for 2026. Size, background and rules. Create a compliant photo online.
Image Created with AI for IllustrationA visa application for Denmark combines information about the proposed trip with identification of the traveller. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs describes a sequence that includes completing the application, supplying supporting documents and having biometric data, including a photograph, recorded at the visa application centre. The portrait therefore belongs within a wider appointment process.
Use our photo requirements to understand what makes an identification photo usable before you attend. Clear framing, an appropriate background, a natural facial expression and adequate photo quality help produce a faithful likeness. Check the receiving centre’s checklist for any separately supplied image rather than assuming that the photograph stage is completed merely by filling in an online form.
The ministry directs travellers to apply to the Schengen country responsible for their main destination. Our visa finder can help begin that research, while the embassy and consulate directory helps locate the relevant representation. Denmark also has representation arrangements with other Schengen states, so the office handling a Danish trip may operate a different submission channel.
Prepare the requested identity documents, travel details and supporting evidence together with any photo material. Check whether the application centre requires an appointment and allow time for processing before departure. If the purpose is work, study or residence rather than a short visit, consult the corresponding permission route first. A well-prepared portrait supports identification, but the application still needs to explain the actual purpose and conditions of the stay.
Photo dimensions must be precise to avoid rejection. The face-to-frame ratio is equally important for proper identification.
Use a plain, distraction-free background. We replace it automatically to meet official criteria.
Proper lighting ensures your photo is clear and natural. Uneven exposure or artificial glare can lead to rejection.
Your face must be fully visible with a neutral expression for easy identification and facial recognition.
Glasses are allowed only if they do not obstruct visibility. Headwear is permitted only for valid medical or religious reasons.
Improper posture can lead to application rejection. Your face and shoulders should be correctly aligned and fully visible.
