Official Gabonese ID photo requirements for 2026. Size, background and rules. Create a compliant photo online.
Image Created with AI for IllustrationThe electronic national identity card in Gabon, known as the CNIE, is connected to the personal identification number or NIP. Interior Ministry guidance explains that obtaining this number precedes the card application. The 14-character identifier belongs to the registered person, while the facial photograph makes the identity record visually recognizable.
The national data-protection authority’s assessment of the CNIE system includes a digitized photograph among the personal data involved. The enrollment framework also distinguishes people already registered in the IBOGA biometric system from people needing new registration. A previous identification history therefore matters alongside the present portrait; not every applicant begins with an entirely empty record.
Gather the accepted identity documents for the relevant NIP route and prepare for any requested image capture or update. A recognizable likeness, clear photo quality and an unobstructed facial expression help identification. Our framing and background guides explain photographic preparation, while the enrollment service determines how the image enters the official record.
The ministry’s guidance for previously enrolled citizens refers to photo identification; other cases require civil-status or nationality evidence. Those papers establish eligibility and personal details, and the photograph provides a different kind of identification. Use the official DGDI service for the card stage after the NIP requirements are met, keeping the number, supporting evidence and photographic record consistent.
Photo dimensions must be precise to avoid rejection. The face-to-frame ratio is equally important for proper identification.
Use a plain, distraction-free background. We replace it automatically to meet official criteria.
Proper lighting ensures your photo is clear and natural. Uneven exposure or artificial glare can lead to rejection.
Your face must be fully visible with a neutral expression for easy identification and facial recognition.
Glasses are allowed only if they do not obstruct visibility. Headwear is permitted only for valid medical or religious reasons.
Improper posture can lead to application rejection. Your face and shoulders should be correctly aligned and fully visible.
