Guadeloupean Passport Photo

A French Passport Application Prepared in Guadeloupe

A passport requested by a French citizen in Guadeloupe is a French passport, with the national identity-photo rules and local appointment arrangements. The prefecture explains that an online pre-application can begin the process, but the photograph still belongs to the dossier completed with the issuing service. Keep the pre-application reference and supporting papers ready for that stage.

Service Public specifically states that applicants in Guadeloupe must supply their photograph rather than rely on capture at the counter. This is a useful practical distinction when planning the appointment. Arrange the accepted photo service beforehand and keep the finished image in good condition until it is submitted with the passport request.

The national guidance calls for a recent image that remains a recognisable likeness. Review the portrait, photo quality, framing and facial expression before choosing the final photograph, using the detailed requirements below for the individual checks. Protect prints from creases and marks, and avoid assuming a picture used for a different French administrative service has the same delivery route.

The passport supports international travel, while the application also establishes identity and nationality through the required identity documents. If a journey includes a foreign stopover, review the destination requirements separately with the visa finder. Applying in Guadeloupe does not create a different nationality or passport category; it changes where you organise the local appointment and submit the French application.
