A Recent Portrait in Guatemala’s Diplomatic-Passport Dossier

The Instituto Guatemalteco de Migración publishes diplomatic-passport checklists for different official categories in Guatemala. For Foreign Ministry officials, the list explicitly includes a recent photograph alongside the DPI and documents supporting the appointment. This is a specific administrative route, not an ordinary passport application with a different label.

The evidence varies by the eligible office: the portal separates national office holders, legislators, judicial officials and Foreign Ministry personnel. Use the relevant section rather than combining requirements from every category. Where eligible spouses or minor children are included, the Institute also calls for evidence of the family relationship, and each applicant’s image needs to remain correctly associated with their own dossier.

Choose a portrait that provides a recognisable likeness and inspect photo quality, facial expression and framing before submission. The detailed requirements below explain the visual checks. A photograph prepared for a staff biography is not automatically the best identification image, so review the original instead of relying on its previous institutional use.

Confirm the required digital delivery format or number of prints with the service coordinating the application, since the published category checklist does not give every technical transfer detail.
