Icelandic Diplomatic Passport Photo

Preparing the Holder’s Image for Icelandic Diplomatic Travel

Diplomatic and service passports fall within the responsibilities of Iceland’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs. For an eligible official traveler, the photograph connects the booklet to its individual holder, while the issuing authority establishes entitlement to the passport category. The Ministry’s responsibility for these documents should not be confused with the ordinary public passport-application route.

Coordinate the photograph with the office handling the approved request in Iceland. Confirm its capture or delivery arrangements before borrowing a checklist from the regular District Commissioner service. The public ministry responsibilities page identifies the responsible authority but does not establish a universal photograph count or upload limit for every diplomatic case.

Prepare an identification portrait showing a recognisable likeness. Official-event images, group pictures and ceremonial settings rarely provide the straightforward presentation needed for an identity document. Our framing, facial expression, background and photo quality guides explain the practical preparation, and the detailed specifications below cover the visual checks.

Keep the image aligned with the name and personal particulars in the supporting identity documents. A foreign diplomat’s accreditation card issued for a posting in Iceland is a separate document from an Icelandic diplomatic passport, so its application should not be used as the passport checklist. Our embassy and consulate directory helps locate representation for overseas coordination, while the visa finder offers a starting point for destination questions. The responsible official channel should confirm any entry arrangements that depend on the passport category and purpose of travel.
