Official Jersey visa photo requirements for 2026. Size, background and rules. Create a compliant photo online.
Image Created with AI for IllustrationA visa application for Jersey is submitted through the UK application process and then referred to Jersey for a decision. The government’s guidance describes attending a visa application centre to provide fingerprints and a photograph. The portrait is therefore part of that identity-enrolment step, not simply a picture added to a travel itinerary.
From July 2026, Jersey’s published guidance describes digital permission to travel for new visa applicants, linked to the passport. This change in the evidence of permission does not remove the identity checks in the application. Keep the passport details accurate and follow the appointment instructions for the photograph and other biometrics.
Use the visa finder to explore the relevant visit, work, study or family route. For photo preparation, a current recognisable likeness, suitable framing and clear facial expression help create a reliable portrait. Review photo quality and the detailed requirements below before the appointment, and keep the requested identity documents ready for the application centre.
Jersey is outside the Schengen visa system, so an application prepared for a Schengen destination should not be assumed suitable for this journey. Our embassy and consulate directory can help locate relevant representation, but the official application instructions determine the service used. Confirm the visa category and identity-recording arrangements before purchasing extra photographs that the appointed centre may not need.
Photo dimensions must be precise to avoid rejection. The face-to-frame ratio is equally important for proper identification.
Use a plain, distraction-free background. We replace it automatically to meet official criteria.
Proper lighting ensures your photo is clear and natural. Uneven exposure or artificial glare can lead to rejection.
Your face must be fully visible with a neutral expression for easy identification and facial recognition.
Glasses are allowed only if they do not obstruct visibility. Headwear is permitted only for valid medical or religious reasons.
Improper posture can lead to application rejection. Your face and shoulders should be correctly aligned and fully visible.
