Your Jordanian Licence Portrait and the Sanad Identity Record

A Jordanian driving licence needs to be understood alongside the identity record used to verify its holder. The government’s Sanad update removes the separate portrait from the digital driving licence and instead uses the photograph on the digital civil identity. That change concerns how documents appear in the application; it should not be read as a universal instruction that photographs are unnecessary for every licensing transaction.

Before arranging a first licence, renewal or replacement, check the Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Department’s instructions for that service. Establish whether the office will use an existing identity image or needs another photograph. This is especially useful when the portrait in an older document no longer provides a good likeness.

For any image requested, review the photo requirements below with the explanations of framing, background, facial expression and photo quality. Keep the face clear and naturally recognisable. A screenshot of a digital licence is a copy of a document, not a newly prepared identification portrait, so do not substitute one for the other without the receiving office’s instructions.
