Preparing the Portrait for Liberia’s Visa-on-Arrival Application

Liberia’s visa-on-arrival platform includes an application stage before the traveller reaches the airport. The Liberia Immigration Service portal requests a recent passport photograph as part of that online preparation and describes biometric processing on arrival. The uploaded portrait and the border enrolment are therefore different parts of the same route, rather than interchangeable ways to finish the application.

First establish whether this route is appropriate for your journey to Liberia. Consular visa applications have their own arrangements, and the relevant representation can be located through our embassy and consulate directory. Our visa finder is useful for exploring visa information, but the Liberian service decides which application channel applies to the traveller and their circumstances.

Keep the requested photograph separate from the passport-page scan. Both identify the applicant, but the portrait should provide a clear current recognisable likeness without the text, security features or page edges of a scanned travel document. Check photo quality and framing before exporting the image in the digital delivery format required by the application portal.

After submission, retain the application confirmation with the travel documents and follow the official arrival instructions. A successfully uploaded image does not replace the later immigration checks. If you need to change the photograph, work from the original file and review image resolution rather than enlarging a small preview taken from the application screen. The specifications below provide the detailed photo checks.
