A Current Colour Photograph for Botswana’s Residence-Permit File

A residence-permit application for Botswana includes a recent colour passport-size photograph within the checklist for the relevant applicant category. The government publishes separate supporting lists for situations such as an immigrant, a citizen’s spouse and dependants. Identify the applicable list first so the photograph accompanies the right evidence of support and relationship.

The published service describes an approved residence permit being endorsed as a sticker in the passport. The application portrait and the passport copy therefore belong to the same immigration record, but they remain separate requested items. Keep the original travel document and other identity documents available as instructed by the receiving office.

For a spouse’s application, for example, the photograph accompanies marriage and support evidence; a dependant’s file has its own relationship and supporter documents. Do not mix photographs between family members when assembling those records. Use our photo quality, framing and facial expression guides to prepare a clear recognizable likeness for each person applying.

Confirm the current photo requirements and how the receiving office wants the image delivered before making the final prints or supplying a digital photograph. Entry permission, residence and employment authorization are different matters, so the visa finder is only a starting point for travel research. Explain your residence category and whether the request is new or continuing when contacting Immigration. Keeping the photograph linked to that precise application helps the officer assess the correct person’s stay, rather than treating a generic passport photo as a complete permit file.
