Official Namibian residence permit photo requirements for 2026. Size, background and rules. Create a compliant photo online.
Image Created with AI for IllustrationNamibia’s permanent-residence checklist asks for two passport-size photographs with the application. Home Affairs also lists the passport information page, medical and radiological reports, police clearances and evidence relating to the applicant’s circumstances. The portrait identifies the person seeking residence; the other records support the substantive application.
The permanent-residence process has a post-approval stage involving the approval letter, passport and payment evidence for endorsement. Preparing photographs is therefore one part of a longer administrative sequence. Keep the application and later endorsement instructions together so that acceptance of the file is not confused with completion of the permit.
Use matching prints with a clear likeness. The photo requirements below and our framing, background, facial expression and photo quality explanations help assess the pictures. Keep them separate from copies of existing identity documents, and avoid creases or marks that would obscure the face when the documents are handled.
Our Namibia page connects related Namibian documents, and the visa finder supports initial entry research. Employment and student permits have their own checklists, even where the photo count is similar. The embassy and consulate directory helps locate relevant consular contacts for foreign records. Match the supporting evidence to the actual residence route rather than combining requirements from several different permit applications.
Photo dimensions must be precise to avoid rejection. The face-to-frame ratio is equally important for proper identification.
Use a plain, distraction-free background. We replace it automatically to meet official criteria.
Proper lighting ensures your photo is clear and natural. Uneven exposure or artificial glare can lead to rejection.
Your face must be fully visible with a neutral expression for easy identification and facial recognition.
Glasses are allowed only if they do not obstruct visibility. Headwear is permitted only for valid medical or religious reasons.
Improper posture can lead to application rejection. Your face and shoulders should be correctly aligned and fully visible.
