Matching a Nepal Residential-Visa Portrait to the Right Eligibility Route

Nepal’s Department of Immigration treats the residential visa as a specific immigration category. Its guidance distinguishes people making an outstanding contribution, qualifying investors and foreigners wishing to live in Nepal without conducting business. A residence request is therefore more specific than extending a holiday, and its identifying photograph belongs with the correct category of supporting evidence.

For the non-business route, the published checklist includes financial evidence, character and health documentation, an embassy no-objection letter, age or retirement evidence and passport information. Other residential categories have their own basis. These documents explain why residence is requested; the facial image identifies whose request is being considered.

Use a current portrait preserving a recognisable likeness. Check photo quality, framing, background and facial expression, with image resolution and digital delivery format considered if the application asks for an electronic image. The detailed specifications below assist with the photo, while the selected immigration service determines submission and any required attendance. Keep the image with the corresponding identity documents and online application receipt. Our embassy and consulate directory can help locate the mission relevant to an embassy letter. For someone planning to settle in Nepal, a carefully organised residence file should keep personal appearance, passport details and eligibility evidence aligned without treating a visitor-visa photograph as proof of qualification for long-term residence.
