Official Nigerian diplomatic passport photo requirements for 2026. Size, background and rules. Create a compliant photo online.
Image Created with AI for IllustrationA diplomatic passport from Nigeria is intended for Nigerian diplomats and other eligible senior officials, with approval as described by Nigeria Immigration Service. The photograph identifies the person travelling in that official capacity. Preparing it alongside the correct application evidence helps distinguish the traveller’s portrait from an organisational staff photograph or a publicity image.
The NIS checklist asks for two passport photographs together with the organisation’s application or introduction letter, appointment or promotion evidence and the relevant identity documents. Those supporting papers establish the official context; the portrait provides the visual likeness. Confirm the handling office’s current submission arrangements before producing the final prints.
Use the photo requirements on this page to review the image’s main characteristics without assuming that a formal suit or office background makes it passport-ready. A natural facial expression, appropriate framing and clear photo quality matter more than a ceremonial pose. Our photo preparation guide can help you organise a fresh capture when an existing agency photograph is not suitable.
For an assignment abroad, the embassy and consulate directory is useful for identifying the relevant mission and its official contact details. Keep any destination visa request separate from obtaining the Nigerian diplomatic passport: the receiving country may ask for additional photographs or a different delivery format. Check the instructions for the exact document being requested.
Photo dimensions must be precise to avoid rejection. The face-to-frame ratio is equally important for proper identification.
Use a plain, distraction-free background. We replace it automatically to meet official criteria.
Proper lighting ensures your photo is clear and natural. Uneven exposure or artificial glare can lead to rejection.
Your face must be fully visible with a neutral expression for easy identification and facial recognition.
Glasses are allowed only if they do not obstruct visibility. Headwear is permitted only for valid medical or religious reasons.
Improper posture can lead to application rejection. Your face and shoulders should be correctly aligned and fully visible.
