Official Nigerian visa photo requirements for 2026. Size, background and rules. Create a compliant photo online.
Image Created with AI for IllustrationA visa photograph helps connect an application to the traveller seeking entry to Nigeria. Nigeria Immigration Service’s e-Visa checklist includes recent passport-size photos, while the supporting documents vary by visa category. Choose the correct travel purpose before preparing the upload: a business visit, tourism and a visit to family do not use an identical evidence checklist.
The digital photograph is separate from the scan of your passport and from documents such as an invitation or accommodation details. Keeping those files distinct makes it easier to put the right material in each field. The NIS electronic process involves submitting the application and required documents, paying the applicable fee and receiving the visa certificate through the stated channel.
The detailed photo requirements below help you review the portrait itself. Focus on a clear recognisable likeness, suitable background and usable image resolution rather than trying to extract your face from a passport-page scan. The photo quality guide provides a final check before saving the version requested by the portal.
Use our visa finder to explore the relevant travel category and the embassy and consulate directory when a mission-based route is required. The NIS guidance says the exact supporting requirements depend on the category; a successful image upload does not establish that the rest of the application is complete. Check the current portal instructions for your own nationality and intended visit.
Photo dimensions must be precise to avoid rejection. The face-to-frame ratio is equally important for proper identification.
Use a plain, distraction-free background. We replace it automatically to meet official criteria.
Proper lighting ensures your photo is clear and natural. Uneven exposure or artificial glare can lead to rejection.
Your face must be fully visible with a neutral expression for easy identification and facial recognition.
Glasses are allowed only if they do not obstruct visibility. Headwear is permitted only for valid medical or religious reasons.
Improper posture can lead to application rejection. Your face and shoulders should be correctly aligned and fully visible.
