Photographs for Singapore’s Emergency Document of Identity

When a Singapore passport is lost abroad, a Document of Identity can help the citizen return home. The Foreign Ministry separates the electronic application through Singpass from the procedure for people without access to it. That distinction matters for photo preparation: the published online route does not require passport-sized photographs, whereas the alternative route asks for two recent ones.

For the route without Singpass, the ministry instructs the applicant to contact the nearest Singapore overseas mission and prepare a local police report, photographs and identity evidence. The mission advises on the next steps. Report the passport loss accurately, since a passport reported lost is cancelled and cannot simply be used again if subsequently found.

Provide a current likeness and protect the prints while travelling to the mission. Check the submission instructions before ordering pictures, because the two application routes do not have identical document requirements.
