Official Slovenian visa photo requirements for 2026. Size, background and rules. Create a compliant photo online.
Image Created with AI for IllustrationApplying for a visa to Slovenia means identifying the visitor and explaining the proposed stay. Slovenia’s official entry guidance asks for a photograph meeting ICAO standards alongside the travel document, insurance and purpose-of-stay evidence. The image is part of the consular application record, not a replacement for the passport portrait. Begin with the visa finder to distinguish a short visit from a longer-stay route, then confirm which Slovenian mission or authorised application centre handles your case.
A current portrait should show the same person who will attend the appointment and travel. The government’s private-visit checklist calls for a recent colour image with clear detail and an uncomplicated bright background. Use the photo requirements, facial expression and photo quality advice to prepare it without adding cosmetic effects. If the application requires prints, protect them from creases and marks; if a digital photograph is requested, preserve enough detail for the specified submission method.
The consular process may also involve fingerprints, with exceptions for certain applicants. A photograph prepared in advance does not remove an appointment requirement for biometrics. Conversely, submitting fingerprints for an earlier application should not be treated as permission to reuse an unsuitable old photograph. Check the office’s current checklist through the embassy and consulate directory and keep the photo with the correct application form. Entry permission, residence permission and a Slovenian citizen’s passport are separate procedures, even when their portraits look similar at first glance.
Photo dimensions must be precise to avoid rejection. The face-to-frame ratio is equally important for proper identification.
Use a plain, distraction-free background. We replace it automatically to meet official criteria.
Proper lighting ensures your photo is clear and natural. Uneven exposure or artificial glare can lead to rejection.
Your face must be fully visible with a neutral expression for easy identification and facial recognition.
Glasses are allowed only if they do not obstruct visibility. Headwear is permitted only for valid medical or religious reasons.
Improper posture can lead to application rejection. Your face and shoulders should be correctly aligned and fully visible.
