Official Turkish residence permit photo requirements for 2026. Size, background and rules. Create a compliant photo online.
Image Created with AI for IllustrationThe residence-permit process in Turkey starts through e-İkamet for first applications, extensions and changes of permit type. The photograph is more than an account image: Migration Management states that it is used on the residence-permit card. Preparing a suitable digital version before completing the online form helps keep the application image consistent with the photographs later supplied to the authority.
The official guidance requires a biometric image taken within six months against a white background, with four photographs for the appointment. Select one current recognisable likeness and produce the matching prints from that digital photograph. Clear framing, an ordinary facial expression and reliable photo quality matter when the portrait is reproduced on the card. Avoid submitting a family photograph or an image in which the applicant cannot be recognised.
The residence basis determines the other documents, such as evidence relevant to study, family life or another permitted purpose. Keep those records separate from the portrait and passport-page copies, and make sure the identity documents information matches the online form. First and transfer applicants attend the provincial migration directorate with the required file. The photo preparation guide explain image preparation, while the detailed photo requirements below complement the authority’s checklist. A technically acceptable photo completes one part of the file; the residence decision still rests on the full application.
Photo dimensions must be precise to avoid rejection. The face-to-frame ratio is equally important for proper identification.
Use a plain, distraction-free background. We replace it automatically to meet official criteria.
Proper lighting ensures your photo is clear and natural. Uneven exposure or artificial glare can lead to rejection.
Your face must be fully visible with a neutral expression for easy identification and facial recognition.
Glasses are allowed only if they do not obstruct visibility. Headwear is permitted only for valid medical or religious reasons.
Improper posture can lead to application rejection. Your face and shoulders should be correctly aligned and fully visible.
