Where to Get Passport Photos in Canada?

Across a Wide Country: Passport Photos in Canada

Canada's geography spans mountain ranges, glacial lakes, forests and ocean coastlines. The Rockies bring together peaks, icefields and turquoise water, while Atlantic routes pass fishing communities, beaches and lighthouses. Farther north, the distances and landscapes change again. That breadth explains why a national directory needs a local starting point. Your passport portrait should be the small, practical photograph in the collection, not a reason to begin another cross-country journey.

For a passport photograph, however, start with the rules rather than the view. Canadian passport photos must be taken in person by a commercial photographer. A picture taken at home is not a substitute for that requirement, however impressive the lighting or how carefully you keep Mount Royal out of the background.

Find the Right Service in Your City

Open Toronto, Montréal, Vancouver, Calgary or Ottawa, then use neighborhood options where available. Canada is far too large for a national listing to imply a nearby appointment. Confirm the business's address and that it provides the exact document-photo service before visiting.

There are 14 photographer listings in the Canada directory. Ask about the full price, the output your application needs and the photographer information required for your submission.

The Canadian passport photo guide is the relevant starting point for a Canadian passport. Our Canada visa photo guide concerns a different application and should not be treated as interchangeable.

Online Preparation for Other Eligible Documents

Rostrio's online service may suit other documents that accept a photo you supply yourself. Check the issuing authority's instructions before choosing it, then consult our photo instructions and online options and prices. For a Canadian passport, keep the required in-person commercial-photographer appointment. That distinction is more important than making every kind of document photo follow the same route.
