The Ministry of Foreign Affairs offers a laissez-passer service for citizens of Bahrain abroad who have lost a passport or need a document for a newborn. The request is addressed to Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs through the consular process. These situations explain why the photograph may belong either to an adult with an existing travel record or to a child needing a first travel document.

The government service checklist specifies a personal photograph in the specified format with a white background.
