Official Basotho visa photo requirements for 2026. Size, background and rules. Create a compliant photo online.
Image Created with AI for IllustrationA visa request for Lesotho starts with the applicant’s nationality and purpose of travel. The government service charter separates visitor, study, family, employment-related and other requests, each with its own evidence. The portrait, where requested by the receiving application service, identifies the traveller; invitations, admission letters or employment papers establish the reason for the journey.
Check the current submission route with Immigration or the responsible mission before preparing the final photo version. The embassy in Washington directs applicants to its visa instructions and the immigration application contact. Our embassy and consulate directory helps locate the relevant representation, while our visa finder can help orient your planning without replacing the official eligibility decision.
Prepare a portrait with a recognisable likeness, using the detailed requirements below to review background, framing and photo quality. Keep a clear original so the requested digital delivery format can be produced without repeatedly scanning a small print. Confirm the actual upload or paper-photo instructions from the application service rather than assuming a file size from an older online guide.
Organise the image separately from the passport copy and journey evidence. The official checklists also address travel through South Africa in relevant cases, so consider the whole itinerary when preparing documents. A suitable photograph supports the visa file, but it does not replace any separate transit permission or the supporting records required for your particular visit.
Photo dimensions must be precise to avoid rejection. The face-to-frame ratio is equally important for proper identification.
Use a plain, distraction-free background. We replace it automatically to meet official criteria.
Proper lighting ensures your photo is clear and natural. Uneven exposure or artificial glare can lead to rejection.
Your face must be fully visible with a neutral expression for easy identification and facial recognition.
Glasses are allowed only if they do not obstruct visibility. Headwear is permitted only for valid medical or religious reasons.
Improper posture can lead to application rejection. Your face and shoulders should be correctly aligned and fully visible.
