Official Egyptian residence permit photo requirements for 2026. Size, background and rules. Create a compliant photo online.
Image Created with AI for IllustrationEgyptian residence-permit photographs accompany the immigration application for a specific basis of stay. For refugees and asylum seekers registered with UNHCR, the published procedure asks for one passport-size photograph for each family member aged twelve or older. This is an asylum-based residence checklist, not a general photo-count rule for every foreign resident.
UNHCR describes residence appointments and processing through Egyptian immigration offices. Registration with UNHCR and obtaining the Egyptian residence permit are distinct administrative steps. Prepare the relevant registration and identity records for the appointment so that the photograph can be associated with the correct person and family file.
The photo requirements below and our framing, background, facial expression and photo quality guidance help assess a recognisable likeness. Keep each family member’s picture identifiable and protected from damage. A photograph supports the individual residence record, while copies of existing identity documents serve a different evidential role in the application.
Our Egypt page connects other Egyptian document guidance. Employment, study and other residence categories use their own immigration instructions. The visa finder supports separate entry research, while the embassy and consulate directory helps locate nationality-specific consular contacts where appropriate. Match the appointment and supporting materials to the actual residence route rather than combining unrelated checklists.
Photo dimensions must be precise to avoid rejection. The face-to-frame ratio is equally important for proper identification.
Use a plain, distraction-free background. We replace it automatically to meet official criteria.
Proper lighting ensures your photo is clear and natural. Uneven exposure or artificial glare can lead to rejection.
Your face must be fully visible with a neutral expression for easy identification and facial recognition.
Glasses are allowed only if they do not obstruct visibility. Headwear is permitted only for valid medical or religious reasons.
Improper posture can lead to application rejection. Your face and shoulders should be correctly aligned and fully visible.
