The Face Recorded in Indonesia’s Ktp-El Identity System

The KTP-el is Indonesia’s electronic population identity card. Its photograph is recorded as part of biometric enrolment together with other identifying information, rather than simply pasted onto a card after an online order. Local Dukcapil offices manage the recording service and explain which supporting population records applicants should bring.

Mataram’s published service, for example, requires the applicant to attend personally for capture of the face, fingerprints and iris data. Its checklist includes the family card, or Kartu Keluarga.
