Irish Visa Photo

Two Matching Photographs for Your Irish Visa Application

Irish visa applications require two matching passport-size photographs of the applicant. Immigration Service Delivery’s instructions treat them as separate items enclosed with the application, not as pictures to staple onto the form. This preparation detail helps preserve the images for the identity checks carried out during processing.

The official guidance asks applicants to write their name and visa application or transaction number on the reverse of each image, with an exception for the transaction number on re-entry-visa photographs. Match that information carefully to the application so the prints remain associated with the correct file when the supporting papers are handled.

Choose a recent portrait giving a recognisable likeness. The detailed requirements below cover the visual criteria, and our framing, facial expression, background and photo quality guides help prepare images with clear facial detail. Keep both copies identical rather than mixing photographs from different sessions merely because they show the same person.

Before assembling the package, confirm the visa category for travel to Ireland and follow the instructions generated by the application process. Our visa finder helps explore that starting question, and the embassy and consulate directory can locate the relevant representation. Keep copies of supporting identity documents separate from the new photographs. A correct portrait supports identification, while the full application and supporting evidence establish the reason for travel and whether the requested visa can be granted.
