The Identification Photograph When Moving from Mykid to Mykad

Malaysia’s MyKad and MyKid are not the same photographic document. The National Registration Department explains that MyKid does not contain a photograph or thumbprints, while its identity-card services include the MyKad application at age twelve and replacement at eighteen. Preparing for the photo-bearing identity card is therefore different from reusing the child’s earlier MyKid record.

JPN also separates late registration, replacement after loss and amendments to personal particulars. Choose the service matching the applicant’s circumstances in Malaysia, keeping birth and other supporting identity documents ready for the official registration process. A passport photograph prepared for travel should not automatically be treated as the complete MyKad application.
