Malaysian Residence Permit Photo

The Sponsor’s Role in a Malaysian Residence Pass Photograph

A Malaysian Residence Pass application includes photographic identification as well as evidence of the qualifying category. For a spouse of a citizen, the Immigration Department’s checklist lists two passport-size photographs. The official sponsorship form also asks the local sponsor to certify that the attached pictures are a true likeness, with an endorsement on the back of one photograph.

This makes the photo more than an anonymous attachment: it is connected to the person whom the sponsor knows and supports. Keep the portrait and supporting identity documents consistent with the application details. The department requires both sponsor and applicant to attend submission for the described service, so a completed photo set does not replace that joint attendance.

Prepare matching prints with a recognisable likeness, checking photo quality, framing, background and facial expression against the detailed guidance below. Arrange any endorsement as instructed without damaging the image. The Residence Pass is a specific immigration route in Malaysia, distinct from an Employment Pass or another long-term permission. Our digital delivery format guide helps distinguish the photo from scans of supporting papers. Use the category-specific checklist when organising family or other residence evidence rather than assuming that every Malaysian immigration pass has identical photographic requirements.
