Green Card Photographs for Residents of Puerto Rico

For a lawful permanent resident living in Puerto Rico, the relevant residence credential is the United States Permanent Resident Card, commonly called a green card. It is issued through the federal immigration system, rather than a separate Puerto Rican residence-card programme. The portrait on that card links the holder to their immigration record. Local address evidence and a CESCO card may support everyday identification, but they do not replace this federal proof of status.

When renewing or replacing a permanent resident card using form I-90, USCIS may require an appointment for biometrics, including a photograph, fingerprints or signature. Its notice specifies the appointment arrangements when attendance is needed. This means that assembling passport-style prints is not, by itself, completion of the card-photo step. Read the instructions for the actual application and any notice you receive, rather than transferring a photograph rule from a visa or citizenship application.
