Keeping Rwanda’s Driving-Licence Portrait Aligned with Your ID Record

The definitive driving-licence application in Rwanda is linked to a successful driving-test record. Irembo’s current instructions allow the applicant to enter a registration code or national-ID number, after which the associated information is displayed. This makes the identity record important when considering the portrait: the service is not presented as a general portrait-upload form where any new picture can be substituted at will.

The Rwanda National Police provides the licence service, and the published duplicate guidance explicitly includes cases where the national-ID photograph or personal details have changed. A newer correction or replacement request should therefore be handled through the appropriate police and Irembo process. The duplicate-application guide asks applicants to establish eligibility with the Testing and Licensing Department before proceeding. Do not assume that ordering new prints will update the licence record by itself.
