An Emergency Portrait Matched to Your Nationality and Return Journey

A traveller connected with Western Sahara who loses a passport needs the emergency-document service appropriate to their nationality and circumstances. A laissez-passer is not automatically issued by a single territory-wide office. The consular authority assisting the person must identify the return route and the document it can actually provide.

For Moroccan nationals using Moroccan consular services, the foreign ministry describes an exceptional laissez-passer for people without a valid passport or whose passport has been lost, enabling return to Morocco. Where nationality cannot be established from documents, its guidance describes additional identification involving fingerprints and a photographic information record. That is a specific consular route, not a universal entitlement for all Sahrawi people.

The new portrait should show a clear recognizable likeness beside any surviving identity documents. Review photo quality, framing and facial expression, and preserve a clean digital photograph while the mission specifies whether it needs prints or another output. The photograph identifies the applicant; it cannot replace the nationality and journey checks performed by the assisting office.
